Programme Description

Digital Product and Process Design is a comprehensive certification programme for individuals with an affinity for digitizing processes, products, and services, as well as experience in areas such as industrial design, business analysis, requirements engineering, or user experience. The concept is based on training modules that complement each other, providing a well-rounded education to tackle future challenges. The programme aims to bridge the gap between the increasingly demanding challenges of digitalization and the essential technical expertise in design.

Module 1: Design for Digital Innovation: "Creatively Discover and Effectively Implement Innovations"

  • Digital Business Strategy and Digital Value Loop: Master Digital Design to create holistic digital solutions and generate customer value
  • Digital Design Competencies: Develop design competencies, digital competencies, and cross-sectional competencies to successfully tackle complex design challenges of digitization with technical, design, and interdisciplinary expertise

Module 2: Designing Business Processes: "Shaping the Core of Value Creation Visionarily"

  • Process Management: Understand the essence of process management and align the capacity, quality, and capabilities of your processes according to the Digital Business Strategy
  • Process Modeling: Utilize process modeling to not only visualize processes but also to communicate, design, and automate them
  • Process Improvement and Customer Value: Optimize digital processes in alignment with business models and Digital Value Loops to exceed customer expectations.

Module 3: Agile Requirements Engineering: "Understanding and Agile Implementation of Requirements for Digital Products and Processes"

  • Requirements Engineering II: Analyze and validate requirements for digital processes and products
  • Agile Mindset and Roles: Develop an agile mindset and take on effective roles in Requirements Engineering and agile methodologies to optimize the design of digital products and processes

Christoph Rosenkranz has been the Academic Director of the Bachelor's programme in Business Informatics at the University of Cologne. His research primarily focuses on the digital transformation of organizations, with particular emphasis on the development and management of information systems and the effects of different management approaches on system development, teamwork, and project management. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Information Technology, Information Systems Journal, Business & Information Systems Engineering, Journal of Database Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and Project Management Journal. Prof. Dr. Rosenkranz studied at the University of Münster (Diploma in Business Informatics) and completed his Ph.D. (Dr. rer. pol.) and habilitation at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. In his research, he has collaborated with and advised companies such as SEB, Woolworth’s, Lufthansa, Accenture, AXA, and SAP. He is the Deputy Managing Director of the Cologne Institute for Information Systems (CIIS) and a member of the expert group "Digital Transformation" at the Cologne Center for Ethics, Rights, Economics, and Social Sciences of Health (ceres).

 

Prof. Dr. Andreas Vogelsang

Prof. Dr. Andreas Vogelsang is a Professor of Software Engineering at the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Cologne. He completed his Ph.D. at TU Munich in 2015 and served as a junior professor for Automotive Software Engineering at TU Berlin from mid-2016 to mid-2020, also leading the Software Engineering Department at the Daimler Center for Automotive IT Innovations during that time. Professor Vogelsang's research focuses on Requirements Engineering, Model-based Systems Engineering, and Data-driven Systems Engineering. In 2018, Vogelsang was appointed as a Junior Fellow of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), and in 2019, he was named "Young Scientist of the Year" by academics and the DHV.
