Scholarships

Partial Scholarships for Outstanding Candidates

We support exceptional individuals through a range of partial scholarships for the Executive MBA programme. To apply for a scholarship, please include a motivation letter with your application, outlining why you are a strong candidate for the scholarship you have selected. Be sure to highlight your most significant professional and personal achievements.

Women for Leadership

The University of Cologne actively promotes diversity, plurality of perspectives and equal opportunities. In line with our commitment to gender equity in the business world and within our Executive MBA programme, we offer the Women for Leadership scholarship. This scholarship is aimed at outstanding female leaders.

Selection Criteria:
The Women for Leadership scholarship is merit-based and primarily awarded on the basis of your demonstrated leadership abilities, as reflected in your CV and performance in the EMBA selection interview.

 

Women in Business

Our Women in Business scholarship is aimed at exceptional women whom we wish to support in their pursuit of academic excellence and professional success. We firmly believe that women play a vital role in shaping the future of business and we are committed to helping them realise their full potential.

Selection Criteria:
This scholarship is open to all women who demonstrate a strong commitment to their education and career development. Regardless of background or field, we encourage all interested candidates to apply and take this opportunity to further enhance their capabilities. Diversity

Diversity within any group is key to innovation and creativity – a principle that also applies to executive education. The University of Cologne Business School supports and encourages diversity, and awards the Diversity Scholarship annually.

Selection Criteria:
The Diversity Scholarship is awarded based on a candidate’s diverse background in terms of heritage, educational path, gender identity, abilities, and international experiences (e.g. family background, global work environments).

 

Pride in Business

Our Pride in Business scholarship is specifically designed for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and aims to celebrate and strengthen their unique perspectives and talents within the business world. We believe the diversity of our student body is a key source of strength and innovation, and we are committed to providing an inclusive environment in which all students can thrive.

Selection Criteria:
Regardless of your sexual orientation or gender identity, we invite all LGBTQIA+ candidates to apply for this scholarship and pursue their professional goals with confidence.

 

Ambitious Talent

We are committed to supporting ambitious individuals. The University of Cologne Business School awards the Ambitious Talent scholarship annually to high-potential early-career professionals who largely fund their studies independently.

Selection Criteria:
The scholarship is partly merit-based. Your academic and professional background, career goals and personal motivation will be evaluated through your CV, motivation letter and the EMBA selection interview.

 

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate responsibility and sustainable development are core themes of our Executive MBA. To strengthen this focus, we offer the Corporate Social Responsibility scholarship to particularly capable EMBA candidates working in or committed to this field.

Selection Criteria:
The scholarship is awarded based on your proven leadership in promoting sustainable, forward-looking business practices.

 

EMBA Assistance Award

Our Executive MBA is designed for accomplished professionals who are ready to advance, regardless of their financial circumstances. The EMBA Assistance Award supports candidates who require financial aid to participate in the programme.

Selection Criteria:
While leadership potential is considered, the primary factor for this award is financial need. The scholarship aims to make the EMBA accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

 

Alumni Offer

We believe in and foster life-long learning and offer all alumni of the University of Cologne a 10% discount on the Executive MBA tuition fees.

 

Loans and Education Funds

A selection of available loans and education funds in Germany to support your studies. All these options are eligible for EMBA students:

Tax Refund

EMBA students can deduct the tuition fees and further expenses related to their studies from their taxable income. Requirements are: you are a German resident, taxable in Germany and finance your studies yourself. Please discuss your specific situation with your tax advisor.

 

Educational Leave

The Business School of the University of Cologne has been accredited by the state of North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) and the EMBA is a state-approved educational programme. Thus EMBA students living and working in NRW are eligible to apply for five days of educational paid leave per year.
